Photomaly has 10 Steam achievements, four of them described openly on the listing and six kept hidden. Because a full run is only about 2 hours for one run, this Photomaly achievements page is built around two deliberate playthroughs rather than a grind. Verified July 25, 2026 · Steam.
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Total achievements | 10 on the Steam listing |
| Described openly | 4 — the rest are hidden until unlocked |
| Runs needed | Two — one cooperative, one deliberately failed |
| Time per run | About 2 hours for one run |
| Rarest unlock | Not So Fast — around 21% of players |
| Missable in one run | No — the two ending-side unlocks exclude each other |
| Save support | Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing per the listing |
The table below is the whole list, sorted from most to least common. Rows marked Official quote the description printed on the Steam listing word for word. Rows marked Community tip are hidden on Steam, so the unlock note is drawn from player routes rather than from the game's own text — treat those as a strong lead, not a guarantee.
| Achievement | Players | Source | How it unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Picture Perfect | 93% | Official | Complete your first customer order. |
| Did I See Someone? | 91% | Community tip | unlocks on the first uninvited figure you notice during the opening shifts — no detour needed. |
| Chemical Romance | 83% | Official | Successfully develop your first film roll. |
| Customer Service | 62% | Official | Give a customer an incorrect order. |
| Totally Normal Behavior | 62% | Community tip | fires in the first half of a run, around carrying on with an ordinary shift after something abnormal happens. |
| I'm Something of an Artist | 57% | Official | Make your first edit in the paint app. |
| Family Matters | 31% | Community tip | the reward branch — keep the hooded contact satisfied and finish the assignment instead of ignoring it. |
| Reset Protocol | 27% | Community tip | the opposite branch — deliberately fail the contact and let the run be reset. Bank Family Matters first. |
| No Face, No Case | 23% | Community tip | photograph the hooded contact himself while he is still standing at your counter, before you clear his dialogue. |
| Not So Fast | 21% | Community tip | the rarest unlock — stop a specific late-run customer and interact again before they leave the room after their handover. |
The percentages are unusually informative here because the game is short and linear. Everything above roughly 80% happens inside the first hour whether you plan for it or not — a first order delivered, a first figure noticed, a first roll developed. The middle band around 55–62% marks the three things a player has to actually choose to do: edit a photo in the paint app, hand over an order that does not match the slip, and whatever Totally Normal Behavior is quietly measuring.
Then the list falls off a cliff. Everything under a third of players lives on the hooded contact's assignment and the final days of the run, which is exactly where a first playthrough tends to improvise. Those four are the reason this page recommends a plan instead of a checklist.
Four unlocks carry a printed description, and three of those fire on their own if you simply work the studio properly. The fourth asks you to fail on purpose.

| Achievement | Official description | When it lands |
|---|---|---|
| Picture Perfect | Complete your first customer order. | Day one, first delivered envelope |
| Chemical Romance | Successfully develop your first film roll. | First customer who hands you a film roll |
| Customer Service | Give a customer an incorrect order. | Whenever you choose to fumble one |
| I'm Something of an Artist | Make your first edit in the paint app. | First time you save a drawing over a photo |
The first envelope you hand across the counter unlocks it, and the game teaches you every step on the way there: greet the customer, read the ticket in the corner of the screen, shoot on the marked spot, transfer to the studio PC, print the right size and count, then hold an envelope and interact with the prints. The beginner guide walks the same sequence if the first shift is still confusing.
Developing is the only unlock with a fixed process behind it. Cut the roll at the cutting station until it is used up, run the negatives through developer, then stop bath, then fixer in that order, hang them on the drying rack, and collect them once they are dry. Pull a print early and you have wasted the frame, not earned the unlock. Step-by-step timings are on film developing.

Open any transferred photo on the studio PC and press EDIT. The paint app lets you draw straight onto the shot with a brush, and the achievement is tied to making your first edit there. The one thing that trips people up is leaving the editor without saving, because an unsaved scribble prints as the plain original. Scribble something, save it, then delete the photo if you do not want to hand it over.

This is the only official unlock that rewards a mistake: give a customer an incorrect order. Any mismatch counts, so pick the cheapest possible failure — one copy at the wrong print size, or black and white on a colour request — rather than burning nine sheets of paper on a large job. Do it in the opening shifts while money is tight but demand is low, and check the order rules on the orders guide so you know precisely which value you are breaking.
That covers the four the listing will tell you about. The hidden six are where a route actually helps.

Run one is a clean, cooperative playthrough that picks up nine of the ten. Run two exists only to fail the assignment on purpose. Both fit comfortably inside an evening.
| Situation | Do this instead of improvising |
|---|---|
| You are one unlock short after run one | Check No Face, No Case first — it is the one a clean run skips most often |
| The contact is mid-sentence and you have no camera | Hold the conversation, fetch the camera, then shoot — his lines wait, his exit does not |
| A customer leaves before you can stop them | Note the day and the request; the late run is short enough to replay for one interaction |
| You want both ending unlocks in one save | Not possible — treat run two as disposable |
| The anomaly counter is short at closing time | Re-walk the least-photographed rooms — see anomalies |
| You are out of paper mid-achievement hunt | Order stock before you start a nine-copy job, not during it |
Picture Perfect, Customer Service, Chemical Romance and the paint-app edit are all worth deliberately front-loading into the first two days, when one customer waits at a time and a wasted sheet of paper costs nothing. Later shifts stack a growing anomaly quota on top of paid orders, and that is not the moment to remember you still need to scribble on a photograph.
The failed run overwrites nothing you need once Family Matters has appeared in your Steam list, but doing it in the wrong order costs you an entire extra playthrough. Wait for the achievement notification, not just the ending screen, before you start throwing a run away.
Most incomplete lists come down to a handful of habits — the last section names them.
Every entry here is recoverable, but each one costs a replay of a run that you had already finished.
| Mistake | What it costs | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Clicking through the hooded contact’s dialogue | No Face, No Case | Photograph him while he is still standing there |
| Serving every order perfectly | Customer Service | Deliberately fail one cheap single-copy job |
| Leaving the paint app without saving | I'm Something of an Artist | Press save before you exit the editor |
| Printing a film order straight from the PC | Chemical Romance | Cut and develop it first — film developing |
| Failing the assignment on your first run | Family Matters, and a whole extra playthrough | Cooperate first, fail second |
| Turning back to the counter after a handover | Not So Fast | Watch where each customer goes before you walk away |
| Missing the anomaly quota by accident | The cooperative ending | Sweep the camera feeds twice per customer |
Three of the four rare unlocks come back to the same instinct: point the camera at the thing you were not asked to photograph. The contact at your counter, the customer behaving oddly on their way out, the figure on a security feed — all of them are evidence, and the shutter is free. Treat every strange moment as a photo opportunity and a first run will land far closer to ten than to six.
Once the list is done, the fastest thing left to read is how each ending actually resolves.

No. Family Matters and Reset Protocol are opposite results of the same assignment, so you need at least two playthroughs — roughly two hours each.
Complete your first customer order: read the ticket, shoot or develop the photos, print the exact size and count, then hand the envelope over.
Successfully develop your first film roll — cutting station, then developer, stop bath and fixer in order, then the drying rack. Full steps on film developing.
Give a customer an incorrect order. It is the one achievement you earn by failing, so do it cheaply on a single-copy job early in a run.
Make your first edit in the paint app: open a transferred photo on the studio PC, press EDIT, draw with the brush, and save before leaving.
Not So Fast, at around 21% of players. Community routes tie it to stopping a late-run customer before they leave the room after their handover.
No. Steam prints no text for the six hidden entries, so this page marks those unlock notes as community route tips rather than official descriptions.
The demo is a separate short build covering the opening days — plan your unlocks in the full game. What the demo does and does not include is on the demo guide.
